Cartilage Cell Therapy
Sarcio will provide a cartilage cell therapy that will delay or eliminate the need for joint replacement by repairing and restoring osteoarthritis patients’ cartilage and reducing inflammation using an easy-to-use, off-the-shelf injectable product provided to physicians.
We have developed an inexpensive, effective, and scalable method to generate high-quality hyaline cartilage cells from adult-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to provide restoration, regeneration, and repair.
Our cells release collagen type II, which forms the durable, smooth surfaces in joints and is critical for joint function.
The initial Sarcio product will be an injection of stem cell-derived cartilage cells. In practice, a physician will thaw a vial of Sarcio cartilage cells and inject them into the patient’s osteoarthritic joint.
Sarcio Hyaline Cartilage Cells
Our chondrocytes are surrounded by the brown stained (collagen type II) cartilaginous cell matrix that they secrete.
How the Sarcio Solution Works
The novel Sarcio method produces hyaline cartilage similar to that found in joints.
The collagen type II associated with the Sarcio product is made by cartilage cells and helps form the durable, smooth surfaces in joints and is critical for joint function.
The Sarcio technology delivers cells similar to young cartilage: Healthy cells that have high capacity for growth, increasing the chances of engraftment and healing.
The cartilage cells associated with the Sarcio product may reduce synovial inflammation and inflammation-related pain.
